DREADED OVERTIME
BITES WAXERS AGAIN
The Waxers did their best to
avoid overtime but could not get the winning goal in regulation after
coming back from 3-2, 4-3 and 5-4 deficits. In the end, the visiting
Oshawa Legionaires scored the overtime winner to hand the Waxers their
fifth OT loss this year [recap]
LATE SURGE NOT
ENOUGH IN STOUFFVILLE
The Waxers scored twice in the
closing minutes as they attempted another miracle comeback but ultimately
lost 5-4 to Stouffville. This was their only trip to SpiritLand this
season as sees the two teams split the season series, each with a home
win. [recap]
WAXERS GRAB
CUNDARI AS WILDCATS HIBERNATE
With the recent decision by
the new ownership in Huntsville to take a leave of absence for the
remainder of the 2003-04 season, the Waxers scooped up their impressive
goaltender, Rob Cundari. A native of Sault Ste Marie, Cundari
played last year for the Soo Junior Greyhounds of the NOJHA. Born
February 14, 1985, Cundari is 6', 185 lbs and stopped an incredible 55
shots during the game when the Wildcats visited Markham on October
31. In related moves, Ethan
Gazdic had requested a move back to the NOJHA and has returned home to
Sudbury.
MAJOR LETDOWN AS
WAXERS FALL IN THORNHILL
The Markham Waxers missed a
chance to take over third place alone in the South Division when they lost
the second half of the home and home weekend with Thornhill. The
Major Islanders defeated Markham by a 7-4 score as the two teams split the
back to back games . [recap]
WAXERS TAKE FIRST
HALF OF HOME AND HOME
With a back-to-back,
home-and-home series between Highway 7 rivals Markham and Thornhill this
weekend, the Waxers got a leg up with an opening game victory, by a 5-4
score. The win stretches the Waxers current winning streak to two
games and pushes them in to a temporary tie for third place in the South
Division . [recap]
BIGGEST COMEBACK
IN YEARS MAY BE JUST WHAT WAXERS NEED
Things looked bleak for
Markham as they trailed 6-1 with just 27 minutes gone by in Pickering but
the it happened. The Waxers outscored the Panthers 7-1 over the next
28 minutes to cap a furious comeback and win the game by an 8-7 score. [recap]
OPPORTUNITY
PASSES WAXERS BY
Markham went in to Oshawa for
a rare Tuesday night game and a chance to slip in to third place all alone
but came away shorthanded as two last minute empty net goals sealed a 6-3
Legionaires victory. The Waxers attempted to come back from 2-0 and
4-1 deficits but could get no closer than 4-3 early in the third period. [recap]
WAXERS MAKE IT
THREE IN A ROW
Markham stretched their modest
winning streak to three games after a 6-5 overtime victory over Wexford in
Scarborough Sunday night. A typical Waxers-Raiders affair with lots
of goals, some good saves, some bad saves, lots of speed and numerous lead
changes. [recap]
