NOVEMBER 2001

WAXERS ADD A PAIR FROM VIPERS
The Waxers acquired two players from the Vaughan Vipers Wednesday, goaltender Chris Lawrence and defenseman Greg Peacock.  Both players will suit up for Thursday's contest.  

WAXERS TRADE PAIR
The Waxers traded Mark Mitchell to Stouffville and David Digironimo to Georgetown this week.  

MARKHAM COMPLETES WEEKEND IN FINE FASHION
As expected, the Waxers and Wexford Raiders put on a terrific display of hockey Sunday night as the visiting Waxers skated away with a 3-1 victory.  Pat Porretta scored twice, Mark Menonte once and Kevin Sit earned the victory for his fifth straight game. [recap]

WAXERS CONTROL EVERY ASPECT OF GAME BUT THE SCOREBOARD
Markham played another strong game Friday against the Newmarket Hurricanes, completely dominant at times, but came out with no points in a 5-4 loss.  Jesse Boucher, Mark Menonte, Joey Grasso, and Ben Cottreau scored for the Waxers who were stymied for the most part by the hot goaltending of the Hurricanes. STRONG START, STRONG FINISH KEY TO WAXERS VICTORY OVER BUZZERS
Ben Cottreau scored with just 45 seconds elapsed in overtime as the Waxers defeated St. Michael's 3-2 Sunday night. Jesse Boucher and Steve Nobili scored first period goals Markham and Kevin Sit stopped 31 shots to earn his fourth consecutive victory in net. [recap]

WAXERS START EARLY AND ROLL TO VICTORY
Markham scored in the first minute of the game and went  on to a 7-1 victory tonight against the Thornhill Rattlers.  Jesse Boucher had a hat trick, Pat Porretta had a pair while Michael Fish and Mark Menonte had singles. [recap]

CARDIAC KIDS AT IT AGAIN IN OT THRILLER
The Waxers left it to the very end but were able to squeeze out a 4-3 overtime win against Oshawa Tuesday.  Patrick Diotte scored with 9 seconds left to tie the game and then Jason Young scored with 19 seconds left in the fourth period for the win.  Derek Doucette and Paul Robinson had the other goals. A goal by Jason Young with 19 seconds remaining in overtime sparked the
Markham Waxers to a 4-3 win over the host Oshawa Legionaires in Provincial
Junior A Hockey League action Tuesday.(article)

Through its last five games, Russ Herrington has been happy with the way his
Markham Waxers junior A hockey club has played.
The Waxers head coach feels his club has been playing disciplined hockey and
is happy with the effort his charges have put fourth on the ice.(article)

SUNDAY WOES CONTINUE AS WAXERS LOSE CLOSE ONE
For the second consecutive Sunday the Waxers pumped 40 shots at an opposing goalie but again came up on  the short end, losing to Aurora 3-2.  Ryan Steane and Pat Diotte scored for the Waxers.  [recap]

WAXERS BACK ON WINNING TRACK
The Markham Waxers took no time in getting back in the W column with a 4-1 victory over Oshawa Friday night.  Jason Dufffy, Jesse Boucher, Mark Menonte and Pat Porretta each scored once for the Waxers as Kevin Sit picked up the win in net.  [recap]
