POWER PAST RAIDERS, EXTEND EARLY SEASON WIN STREAK TO HALF DOZEN
The Waxers put their modest
early season winning streak on the line against the Raiders and after a
brief hiccup in the second period powered over them in an 8-2 pasting. A
complete team effort once again, something that you'll get tired of
hearing about it as the season unfolds. [recap]

GLEAM IN 3-0 WHITEWASH OF VIPERS
Markham picked up their fifth
straight win, 3-0 over the visiting Vipers in a fast-paced and times
physical contest. Bobby Fitkin,
Jason Fraccaro
(shorthanded) and Mark Menonte
supplied the goals, one per period. Paul
Guthrie was the recipient of some excellent team defense and made
several outstanding stops to register the first Waxer blanking of the
season. The Vipers didn't play badly and were worthy opponents in what
most fans described as a highly entertaining affair. [recap]
MARKHAM
SHINES IN VICTORY OVER AURORA
The Waxers finished off their
third game in four nights in convincing fashion as they overpowered the
visiting Tigers by a 10-1 margin. A six-goal uprising in the opening frame
set the stage for a contest that had the final margin of victory as the
lone question mark in a contest completely dominated by Markham. [recap]

PASS COLLEGE WEEKEND TEST
In what was described as the best game of
the entire College Weekend slate, the Waxers scored a 4-3 overtime victory
over Wellington. The win extends a modest early winning streak to three
games. Bobby Fitkin on a
powerplay (his first Jr. A goal), Jesse
Boucher, Jason Young
and Paul Robinson
(overtime winner) provided the scoring while Paul
Guthrie and Dan Leclair
split netminding duties. The Waxers next host Aurora at Centennial Arena
on Monday (Sep. 25) at 7:30pm. [recap]
WAXERS
TOTALLY DOMINATE PLAY, SCORE HOWEVER IS MUCH CLOSER
The Markham Waxers completely dominated the
first two periods of their match with the North York Rangers, outshooting
the Rangers 43-16 after 40 minutes and then coasted to a 7-6 victory, the
score very much misleading although credit to the Rangers for taking
advantage of their chances. Jesse
Boucher led the Waxer onslaught with a pair while Jimmy
Ball, Paul Robinson,
Jason Fraccaro
(shorthanded), Steve Kelly
and Mark Menonte added
singles. Fraccaro in particular had an exceptional game, creating numerous
turnovers with tenacious forechecking. Captain Kevin
Tompkins, kept off the scoresheet save for an assist was a force
the entire night and he's everything the Waxers had hoped for in his final
year and then some. The Waxers next play Wellington in Mississauga Sunday
(College Weekend) and then return Monday night to Markham Centennial for
their first meeting of the year with the vastly re-tooled Aurora Tigers. [recap]

PRESENT (AGAIN) ADDITION OF GUTHRIE
The Markham Waxers have now added another
important piece to the team puzzle. Paul Guthrie, a left-handed
goaltender was obtained in a three-way deal and finally after much delay
is official. [story]
WAXERS
SWAT THE BUZZERS
The Markham Waxers rebounded strongly from a disappointing home opener to
earn their first victory of the 2000-2001 season by a convincing 8-3 score
over St. Michael's. The game was all Markham from the opening faceoff as
the Waxers seemed intent to erase the memories of Friday night in a hurry.

SHAKE OUT OPENING DAY BUGS
The Waxers new season opened Friday night at Markham Centennial as the new
edition of the Markham club faced off against the visiting Pickering
Panthers. The sloppy affair that lacked tempo saw the Waxers drop a 4-3
decision. Dan Leclair tended
the pipes for the Waxers and was largely responsible for keeping the
Waxers in the hunt. Markham's next game is Sunday afternoon against the
St. Michaels Buzzers. [recap]
