WAXER UNITED WAY FUNDRAISER A SMASHING SUCCESS 
Saturday the Waxers participated in a United Way Fundraiser with the assistance and co-operation of Markville Mall and selected retailers of the same establishment. It proved to be a great opportunity for the public to meet the Waxer players and to assist in raising funds for a worthwhile cause.

The Markham Waxers Junior A Hockey Club, the entire team, including coaches and other staff, volunteered their time for the cause of raising funds for the United Way.

Cadillac Fairview/Markville Shopping Centre is one of our newest sponsors. We are looking forward to a long mutually beneficial relationship with M.S.C. (Markville Shopping Centre). M.S.C. is hosting this United Way campaign and invited us to get involved.

We felt that this was a great opportunity to introduce our 2000/2001 roster to the community and at the same time give a little back to the community.

We invited "big and small" kids to challenge anyone of our players to a game of table top hockey, fussball or Playstation II NHL 2001. It was a lot of fun for all.

We asked "The Sony Store" at M.S.C. to help us and they supplied big screen TV, Playstation II, NHL 2001, TV anc VCR. This quickly became a popular spot and the Waxers appreciated the helping hand.

We raised some money for the United Way, got some great exposure, distributed our roster and regular season schedule and gave away a number of tickets for our home games.

All in all a successful event, everybody did a great job.
