SPLIT WEEKEND GAMES, BIG TRADE FOLLOWS LOSS TO VIPERS
Markham Waxers' head coach Russ Herrington cannot figure it out.
For some reason he can't fathom why his club could play well in a hard-fought 3-2 overtime win over the Oshawa Legionaires at Centennial
Arena Friday and then do the opposite the following day in a 6-3 road loss
to the Vaughan Vipers. [article]

DEAL WITH THE TIGERS LANDS MARKHAM A PAIR OF "DUCES"

NOVEMBER
ENDS MERCIFULLY FOR THE WAXERS
Saturday night the Waxers dropped their fifth game
of the month, this time in Vaughan by a 6-3 score. After a promising start
the Waxers suffered through a miserable November that saw them exit the
month with a less than spectacular 4-5 record. Enough is enough, the
Waxers will re-emerge as a force in the South Division through a
combination of hard work, sound game plans conceived by the coaching staff
and expert management, very adept in dealing with matters concerning
player personnel. [recap]

WINS AND MITCHELL'S OT MARKER SENDS THE WAXERS HOME VICTORS TOO
Friday night, a very special night, featuring
appearances by numerous celebrities saw the Markham community generously
support the special drive to raise funds in support of Joshua Franey.
Then there was a hockey game and what a game it was. An action filled
affair that featured a Waxer domination that wasn't reflected on the
scoreboard and to the credit of the boys in blue and white they never quit
and finally prevailed with a 3-2 overtime decision. Bobby Fitkin, Jason Young
and Mark Mitchell supplied
the scoring. In addition to his OT winnner, Mitchell assisted on the other
goals and Kevin Tompkins
was a force everytime on the ice and was rewarded with a three point night
as well. Paul Guthrie
turned aside 30 of 32 shots to earn the victory in net. Saturday evening
the Waxers travel to Vaughan to take on the Vipers. [recap]

SLUMP NO CAUSE TO PANIC
Losing games on Friday to the St. Michael's Buzzers 2-1 and to the host
Wexford Raiders 4-2 on Sunday, the Markham Waxers are in a bit of a funk. For the record, the Waxers have lost three in a row and four of their last
five. [article]
NOVEMBER BLUES CONTINUE
TO DRAG WAXERS DOWN
Sunday night, in a battle for first place in the
South Division, the Waxers were dealt a 4-2 defeat by the Wexford Raiders.
The defeat drops the Waxers record for the month to a disappointing 3-4,
not at all reflective of the level that the Markham club should be playing
at. This week the Waxers will regroup and look to turn things around
starting Friday night when they host the Oshawa Legionaires on a very
special night (Joshua Franey - Meet the Olympians night). [recap]
HOT NETMINDER DEALS THE
WAXERS A DEFEAT
St. Michaels Buzzers rode a first period 2-0 lead
all the way home to take a 2-1 decision from the host Waxers Friday night.
The Waxers outshot the Buzzers 51-34 but a combination of cold hands and a
red hot goalkeeper allowed the Buzzers to steal a win. Dan
Leclair was outstanding in net for the Waxers, particularly in the
second and third periods to give Markham a chance to win. Next stop is
Sunday night for the Waxers when they travel to Wexford. [recap]

COACH DISAPPOINTED
Disappointing. That's the word that Markham Waxers head coach
Russ Herrington used to
describe his Provincial Junior A Hockey League club's performance in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Ajax Axemen at Centennial Arena.

WAXERS START WITH A
FURY, THEN COAST AND TURN TO BURNT TOAST
Friday night's rematch with the Axemen was game of
contrasts like none other this year. After dominating the opening twenty
minutes and leading 2-0 the Waxers hit the snooze button and fell behind
4-3 after two. An exchange of goals kept the Waxers down by one before an
empty net marker with almost no time left concluded the scoring. [recap]

Call it another first-place effort by a first-place club.

FIRST LEAVES WAXERS ALONE ON TOP
After a scoreless first period the Waxers
opened up with three goals and then swapped a pair with with the second

Guthrie single handedly was responsible for allowing the Waxers a
chance to win with several outstanding stops, many in the opening frame.
Waxer goals came from Bobby Fitkin
(2), Kevin Cribari, Jesse
Boucher and Jason
Fraccaro. The shorthanded Waxers took game one of a tough three
game weekend despite missing the services of several key players. [recap]
